Ok, I noticed that sometimes when I start the car, after I release the key it won't rotate back into it's proper position. If I turn it slightly counter-clockwise it'll click into place and everything is fine (seemingly). I realize Ford ran a recall on these ignitions but after researching posts here I found out that: it could be coming apart and that it can be fixed easily.

However, if I turns out that I need/want to replace the switch itself is it pretty simple? I plan on looking into it when I get home from work but wanted to get some feedback anyway. I saw several posts regarding ignition issues but none on swapping one.

Piece of cake to swap it yourself. Undo the shrouding from the steering column so you expose the wires and stuff in the column. You'll see the switch, it has a canted harness going into it and it's just forward of the lock cylinder. You will need a tamper-resistant Torx bit (the one with the hole in the center), size T27. Undo screws, pop old switch out, put new one in place, replace screws, plug harness in, put shroud back. And don't forget to disconnect your battery....I got a nice little shower of sparks at one point.

Thanks for the info. Sounds simple enough. :nice:
