Can someone please recommend a set of Fuel Injectors for
a bone stock '87 Speed Density 5.0? I do not plan on H/C/I or a Mass Air
conversion in this car, ever. (I will swap gears soon but doubt this will make a difference.)

I would by from a parts house or the Ford Dealer, but at $50
to $65 each, I have got to beleive their is a better option out there.

Summit has some Ford Racing sets for about $210 each, but I have no idea
what set to get. I hear Speed Density cars are more sensitive to these things
so I want to be sure I get the right ones. I also have a 110lph fuel pump in there in case that makes a difference.

Thanks!

19 pounds per hour. O.E.M. replacements or aftermarket will work fine. Wherever you can find the best deal. You can probably find a nice set of 19's on ebay.

If you can, try to find a shop in your area that has a fuel injector test and cleaning stand (you'll have to call around). They'll be able to tell you which injectors are worth keeping and which (if any) need to be replaced. It could save you a mound of money. You can get injector seal kits from most parts stores to replace the O-rings. The NAPA stores that also have machine shops usually have this test stand. Good Luck.

I agree with Daggar - if you can find the shops that calibrate/clean/test/repair - go for it. Otherwise, Ford Racing will sell you a new set of 8 for about $220.

How easy are they to change?

How easy are they to change? Do I need to remove the upper intake first?

Are there any other threads I should be reading about this?

Thanks!

Yes - upper intake out of the way. And a fuel line disconnect tool will make it a bit easier although some folks find they can move the fuel rail enough (remove the 2 bolts on either side) without disconnecting. Be sure you have new orings on both ends - and clean/check to be sure no oring (or part of one) gets stuck up inside the rail or in the intake.

Do I need to remove MM STB? How much more work is it to change valve cover gaskets?

Thanks,

how much more work is it to change the valve cover gaskets
while in there? Mine are leaking like a crazy (synthetic oil related, I bet)

Also, I have a Maximum MotorSports STB in the engine compartment, do
I need to remove this also or can I work around it?

Thanks!

You have to tske the upper intake off, so the STB will probably have to come off to give you the room to do that. You might be able to work around it depending on the shape of the MM brace, but it is probably more trouble than it is worth.

Once the upper intake is off, changing the valve covers is easy. You might as well do it while you are there.

The Ford racing 19lb injectors are factory ford injectors, just priced better by the set than individual ones from the dealer.

Will the Ford Racing EFI valve covers clear the MM STB?

Will the Ford Racing EFI valve covers clear the MM STB? Thinking about adding some flash if I am going through this. The factory EFI valve covers work fine, but the oil fill cap is close.

The oil fill cap is in a slightly different position on most of the Ford racing EFI valve covers. It is closer to the rear of the engine, by maybe 3/4 inch. There are dozens of valve covers and they are all a littl different. DO NOT get the tall valve covers unless you are looking for a major headache clearing the intake manifold.

Ok I needed an excuse not to spend more $$, what are the best valve cover gaskets?

If I retain the stock valve covers, who makes the absolute best valve cover gaskets? I run Amsoil and it finds its way through everything....

Stock 1992 steel core ford valve cover gaskets. You can reuse them like a dozen times. I'm not sure if for still carrys them or if they are obsolete.

it depends on what cc injector you have. I think a 140cc @ 3bar is required for speed density motors. The mass air flow motors are 194cc @ 3bar. This will cause a rich condition.

I have a set of new injectors off of an '86 5.0 H.O. if you are interested.

Thanks

I run a set of 19# injectors off an Explorer engine in my SD car without issue.
