there is definately too much play in my steering, and the car has a vibration whenever i'm on a long curve on the expressway.

after jacking the car up, i noticed the passenger side tie-rod (seems like the inner that's closer to the steering column) is loose under the rubber cover.

how involved is an inner tie-rod swap?

i have. Its very easy...shouldent take more than a few hours.

go under, pull the boot on the rack and you will see where the inner screws on. the only tricky part is to get the pin out. the easyest way is to take a small screwdriver or chisel and get a small lip exposed. Then get a pair of dikes and get behind the head and pry it out. Very easy.

Take care to measure the distance from the rack to the tie rod end with the wheels straight so you can get a rough alighment before you get it aligned....so its driveable after. the rest is straight foreward.

Oh, if you dont know the tie rod end is pressed into the hub assy with a taper fit. Remove the nut, turn it over, screw it on till its flush and it it squarely with a hammer to get it to pop.
