So i decided to go get my inspection done. I have a sct tuner so i plugged it in and retuned it to stock tune. Then i leave the house and go to the inspection place. I wait about 10 minutes , then he walked up handed me a paper that said i failed.... He asked if my battery went dead and i said yes ( because early i had reset the tune) so apparenty thats a big no no if you want to pass inspection. I have a question if i would have left my tune on would i pass inspection?

You probably could have left the tune alone as long as you have your cats installed and the rear 02's turned on. The other problem is you probably had not yet completed a drive cycle.

Ran into the same issue with my F150 last year. Basically you need to drive the vehicle around for awhile to let it get all the system checks done.

Your tune could have turned off the Rear 02's. I would check with the vendor of the tune. Since you have your cats, I would think the rear 02's would be on.

I wish they had inspections here in florida cause there are so many cars running around with brake lights and tail lights out its not even funny. I wish they would get a ticket just for being stupid.

How long do you have to drive around with the tune back to stock before you can get inspected?

If you not running an O/R pipe the tuner automacticlly leaves the Rear sensors on. You need to complete a full drive cylce for the computer to "relearn everyhthing" drive around to and from work for about a 2 days ! After that point you should be GOOD TO GO !

California laws are so strict .. after my tune was taken out and the Factory was put back on.. Just to play it safe i drove for 2 days ..and went in and passed like it was factory ! (Just threw the factory CAI back on, its a 10 minute job)
