is there anyway i can mess up a pro 5.0 if i install it myself? i have the link to the how to in my favorites somewhere, and it looks like all i can really mess up is the shift stops. im not a retard when it comes to fixing my car, but im not looking to mess anything up. also do you think it would be worth it to get a cold air and a bigger maf?

Shifter can be done in 30mins-an hour, its nothing hard just takes patience. If you follow the instructions it should be no problem, they will tell you the precautions to take. Taking out the old shifter can be a pain. Just make sure its greased up, and seal it good, and let it sit over night, dont drive it after you instal it. I helped my buddy put the mgw shifter on his 99gt a while ago so i dont remember everything but just follow the instructions and you should be Dont get a cold air kit unless you want it for looks, and even then the 100+ bucks is better spent elsewhere like on those griggs subframes. Stock air box with a k&n is a great cold air induction kit. And if you find the right maf for your car it will help. Goodluck, if you have any more serious questions id ask some of the pro's

What he said, Don't waste your money on the chrome air intake. The 5.0 shifter DON'T !! My brother had one on his 93 cobra. Hated it. I got one for x mas a while back. I hated it.. Now I got a MGW. Waste the money on a subframes.

personal preference I guess. Most shifter installs are basically the same. I will warn you that there is a little rubber bushing/cup on the end of the shifter ball. So if you take the old one out and don't see it in the trans then look at the end of the old shifter and it is probably on there. some people ignore that and have more play in there short throw shifter which kind of missing the point. I have driven many stangs with 5.0 shifter and loved all of them. I like the design of the MGW but never driven one. good luck

Pretty hard to mess it up. Simply remove the four bolts holding the shifter base to the trans, and pull it up (after removing the shifter bezel/boot). As someone else said, beware of the little plastic cup the end of the shifer mechanism sits in; don't lose it. Get some rtv to seal the new shifter base to the tranny. Nothing too difficult. I've owned both the pro 5.0 and steeda short shifters; both are basically the same, and I love both.

Yep.

I agree with JT. Very easy.

I just installed an MGW in my Cobra. Click on page 3 of my page to see the install.

I recommend a Cobrabob shifter gasket to anyone who is installing a shifter. Very nice. http://www.stangshiftergaskets.com/index.htm

The MGW was very nice as well!

You shouldn't mess it up. I hated putting mine in though. Not because it was hard, but because it was more than I expected. I like the Morose CAI on mine and a MAF meter will make a difference.

I did mine a few weeks ago. During dissassembly of the console, I discoverd that a previous owner broke off one of the 4 console bolts (at the back of the console) so I couldn't remove it. I installed my Steeda with the console still in place. It took a little longer but I did it.

You can't screw it up....
