Install Front Plate

HI, I'm new to the list and I'm sure this has been addressed, but I can't find it. How do I Install the front plate on a 05 GT softtop? Illinois says I got to put it on. Thanks in advance

There were two screws left in my glovebox for doing this, and you can see the slight identations in the front where they go. Missouri says I should do this too, although I haven't yet. I just don't want the holes up there. The first ticket will probably change my mind though.

Thanks for the reply. If I understand you, I make holes at the dimples and just install the screws there?

Stick it on with two-sided sticky pads.

I don't have much of an issue with the bracket on my bumper. However I can agree with others for not wanting to mess up the bumper period. Both of those designs look like they would work quite well. However, I would add some sort of padding on the back of the plate to prevent either the plate itself or the bolts to rub the bumper.

Nice, both those ideas look like winners after throwing a little padding in there. Forget I said anything about the two screws in the glovebox

I live in illinois and haven't had a front plate since we got our '05 last year. No problems. I have a few cop friends who say they don't pull you over for that. If they do, just play stupid and tell them the car didnt have a bracket, so you didn't know any better. They'll give you a fix it ticket at most.

Absolutely. In the 2nd link I gave the owner admited there was some padding behind the license plate. The other mounting bracket holds the plate away from the bumper, but I imagine there would be significant oscillation.

I was looking at the second link and it is quite simple to replicate. I wonder the odds of having the plate rip out the grill tho due to wind, or if someone bumped into it or snagged the plate.

I got the bracket kit from eBay, using torx screws for security and felt pads, I will install mine this weekend. I have yet to get pulled over but last time it was a $73 ticket in my F 150.

Not to hijack the thread but isn't it crazy that the look of the car has to be altered for the front plate.

Are you the one that paid $48.99 for the bracket? WOW! This guys got a cool bit going on here.

I was thinking of two possibilities, one was to buy one of these from this guy. The other was to build one of my own design in my shop. Now I'm thinking I should build and sell this on ebay. What a great way to make some extra cash. These things are selling for 30 to 50 bucks each. Props to that guy.
