I just recently bought a new ignition switch for my 1988 LX. Having read Chiltons manual it states to drill out the 2 bolts that hold the switch then use an easy out . Then when you install use new bolts and tighten down till the head breaks off. Is this true.

My switch did not come with the switch and they say the do not sell the bolts.

What type bolts do you use and where can I get them?

Thanks.

The switch unbolts (tamperproof torx head fasteners IIRC).

I tried to post it earlier but the link isn't functioning for me anymore. Is it opening for anyone else?

The page still works, but if you're using Firefox and Adblock Plus then you have to disable Adblock or at least disable the '~superchevy.com##.adleft' filter.

It works great if you use WinXP & IE 8. My day job is fixing computers & software, so I would rather not spend my free time trying to learn and troubleshoot a new internet browser. That way I have more play time...

In my case, FF has some features that I haven't found in IE, and it is a lot faster than IE is on my machine. I don't mind the occasional burp (I've run into two total so far and they were due to add-ons, not the browser itself).
