Having some trouble installing the driver side header. I have the motor jacked up and all the spark plugs removed. All the directions say is "with the motor raised slide the drivers side header in from the bottom." Can somebody help me out or give me a write-up on these instead of these POS MAC instructions. Thanks

I think I remeber a friend that had to undo the steering shaft in order for them to get up there and line up for bolting down. You might have to do that in order for them to get up there with out bending the **** out of the tubes.

If I undo the steering shaft, when I putting them in from below how do I reattach the shaft once the headers are all ready in?

I dont remeber exactly how he did it but I know he was cusing for a long time that day. I think the steering shaft either went right next to the header or it went threw the primary tubes and connected that way. This is the reason I went shorty's and not long tube. Try taking the steering shaft out and get the header up there for starters then see where you at and come back.

I think once you get the header in there you will be able to see how it will work.

I had the same problem, i installed Bassani Long-tube headers on my '90GT, and i'll tell you one thing, i don't ever want to go through that experience ever again. It was me, and 2 of my buddies and it basically took us around 6 hours to get them into their spot; one by one and bolt them in...for good. I, actually had to replace my starter; on the passenger side, with a mini-starter because the factory would come into contact w/ the headers. Another reason to why it was so hard because i got the 1 7/8" ones, the ports are huge and the collector is 3 inches.

I have a question for you; WilwoodfiveO, do your MAC long-tubes come down really far, and basically are only about 5" inches from the ground, cuz i can't even lower my car because of this! it kind of sux actually, but there's nothing i can do.

But, i remember doing the driver-side, and from the instructions, it was all bull****...are your's 8 individual pieces or one whole piece for each side??

you have to remove the steering shaft to get them in ......no way around it. I'm almost positive it says that right in the directions..... I my case my steering shaft rubbed off on of the tubes when everything was installed so I had to remove them and slightly dent it to gain clearance.....

Mine are full headers on each side they don't go together as single primaries. Anyways after I removed the steering shaft I tried to put them in from the bottom and still now budge. I'm now gonna remove my huge Wilwood master cylinder and try to install them from the top. Any other tips?

What size tubes are they. My brothers Mac 1 3/4" longtubes have the steering shaft go right through the primarys. After it was all said and done he ended up getting the Flaming river steering shaft kit to make it all work. His rag joint was hitting the header tube. It was easier to replace the shaft. He also had to use the early starter for the 85-86 stangs as it has a smaller housing. My cousins Mac 1 5/8" longtubes also had the same exact problems.
