Installed chip and now car wont start

Alright, so I just reinstalled my Diablo chip in my car. (It was out of the car for a few months). When I was all done I started the engine and it died after a few sec. I cranked it up 2 more times and it did the same thing. Now, when I turn the key it wont start and the red theft light blinks.

What’s wrong?

I’m not sure yet…I guess that’s the next thing I need to try…
Also, when I disconnect my battery is some type of alarm going to go off?…since the theft light came on… (I have no aftermarket alarm…so it shouldn’t right? Only thing that comes w/ our car is the little chip in the key?)

I would pull the bat cable for about 30min and see what it does! If that doesnt help...remove the chip, and it should start. If it doesnt start at that point, I would imagine that the something is wrong aside from the chip.

If the car does OK without the chip, go ahead and clean the chip's contacts and also use some electrical cleaner and an acid brush on the EEC's port where the chip plugs in. Dirty/bad connection is very possible.

Alright I just went out and took out the chip. (you guys hadnt posted yet...wish i waited...lol) Good news is that the car starts…bad news is that the car physically shakes. Idle is almost up at 1k rpm and I can smell fuel from inside the car. Any ideas?

Ok guys I am no very concerned. I just started the car up again and it still smells like fuel but more importantly it shakes. I stepped on the pedal just a little bit…and I do mean a little bit and the car dropped its rpm to about 500 and began to shake more…whats going on?

I’ll go reset the computer now. I also just pulled out my air filter…seems like the rpm dropped back to normal at idle but the car still smells of fuel and it still shakes. Could this be caused by an over oiled k&n?

If you put too much oil on the filter I'd believe it's possible some oil got on / into the MAF sensor. You can pull your sensor out, and gently clean it w/ brake cleaner. I'd imagine that the MAF sensor being off would cause the a/f to be off creating a rich condition that's causing the gas smell. My Pro-M wont allow use of a K & N for that reason. My MAF is more sensative. If you reved the car up some since the K & N recharge I'd say it's more likely to have sucked up some oil.

You'll probably need the right tools / bits to pull the sensor out of the MAF b/c of the tamperproof screw heads.

Update: I have no idea what I did, but the car is running again and everything is ok and normal…going to try to install the chip 1 last time and if it doesn’t work, I’m giving up for today.

oh and pull the chip after all that. It's some combo of all those issues I'd guess as long as that's all you've messed with. Forget the chip for now just get it running properly agian.

EDIT - you gave me carpel tunnels for nothing lol. May have sucked the oil off the MAF sensor.

If the theft light is blinking, the chip is not programmed properly for you code (PATS) Dump the chip anyways. I have seen with my own eyes a Diablo chip tunned and retunned and then one more tune by Willie, the car gained HP and TQ about 7-10, but lost almost 1/2 second at the track. We removed the chip set the T/A to 168 and bingo the lost 1/2 second was regained. If you are N/A stay away!
