A friend of mine had a new clutch installed on his 04 GT. Now the guy can not get the speedometer to work. He tried replacing the spped sensor on the tranmission and still nothing. Any one have any ideas what it could be????

Well, all the transmission connectors and wiring are all in that area behind the intake. There are at least three connectors there. I'm willing to bet either one of those connectors is loose or there is a broken wire somewhere. You said you already replaced the VSS..

Do your reverse lights work?

Pull the speedo gear out of the trans and inspect the gear on the end of the sensor. Next, take a flash light and shine it in the hole in the transmission. Make sure that the speedo drive gear on the output shaft is still in place.

I had a drive gear clip break and move backwards on a T5 before. Moving backwards obviously makes no connection with the speedo gear, therefore, no speedo reading.

i will almost bet that whoever did the clutch job pulled the harness off the speed sensor by the wires in turn pulling one of the connections from the plug so now it doesnt work.pull the plug off the speed sensor and test it as well as visually inspect it and take it apart to make sure they are connected.ive seen them look ok till taken apart then found what im saying.if im right, you owe me a cookie lol
