OK I spent most of the weekend working on my car with a buddy of mine. my goals were:
A) install fuel system for supercharger install (36#injectors, calibrated MAF, Fuel pump)
B) replace steeda pulleys with stock pulleys for blower install
C) install Accufab plenum/TB combo while Im at it

Well pretty much I did all of the above besides the T-rex 255lph fuel pump install. I adjusted TPS to .95, 4.5 WOT, reconnected the battery and took it for a short test drive.. the car has a decent amount more power i must say but the idle isnt smooth, the "Service Engine" light is on, and it almost sounds like its backfiring between quick shifts. now i dont have a tune/chip for these mods so my computer is probably lost in space right now.... but my ? is once i install the T-rex..... is this safe to drive like as it is without a chip/tune???? also is that why my Service Engine light is on?? Please help!!

thanks in advance

Go to an AutoZone and have them pull the code for you... we have no way of judging the problem over the internet...

Too-Shay old man... in that case let me rephrase my question.... would driving around with a 36# fuel setup naturally aspirated (until i bolt up the blower) be a terrible thing?? (without the trouble codes)

The larger injectors are dumping more fuel. Why not install the stock ones until you get the SC installed and the correct tune.

If it was my car, I wouldn't be driving it. Too easy to install the stock injectors and install the 36# when the time is right.
no you are going to foul out your plugs.

Also the t-rex pump is not designed for 99+ cars
ah hah. well see i got scammed on this kit (seller swore it was for 99-04 SOHC but it turned out when i got it, it was for a 96-98 4v Cobra :nonono:)
anyways... do i need to install a pump for these injectors?? i am not going to drive the car anymore at all until the blower is installed and i have to take it to get tuned.

thanks

take all that crap off and send it back and demand he give you the correct kit. that pump probably wont work with returnless. theres absolutely no reason to drive naturally aspirated with 36# injectors unless you are driving on a road race track and are pushing 12+:1 compression.

I tried to return it many times but i cant because the guy is very far away and a prick at the same time. yes i agree... i am not planning on really driving the car yet, i just wanted to do the blower install "piece by piece".. hence i started with injectors, fuel system.. back to my other ?.... do i need a fuel pump for this install????? (how do i move this thread to power adders???)

Im pretty sure you have to use the pump with the Cobra tank.

i know you can fabricate the tanks a bit for them.... but i would not want to try that. i guess i willl go with an aviator fuel pump since it sounds like a fuel pump is a must have in my situation. what about walboro fuel pumps?? are those the same as the cobras>??

as others have said, the injectors are killing you. the Aviator pump is better than the SVT Focus pump, but both will do the job for 8psi. don't drive the car until it gets some kind of tune.

I recommend the Aviator pump to everyone. best price on the net is Randy Stinchcomb over at www.modulardepot.com in the Ford parts section. I have had mine for a couple months now without any problems. as for your problems, you have probably already fouled the plugs. as soon as the 42's went in my car with the blower the plugs fouled when I started it up and on came the dummy light. nothing but raw gas that would burn your eyes from behind the car. do yourself a huge favor and park it so you don't gas wash your cylinders. I loaded mine up on the trailer right away and brought to the tuner. installed NGK TR-6's and then tuned it.

with only 8 psi you might be able to get away with a keene bell boost-a-pump. I think its a lot easier to install too you dont have to drop the gas tank. Pull out your injectors until you get your car tuned your ecu isnt set for 36lbs.

that would be huge for me since dropping the tank and installing a new pump would probably be as much fun as watching my grandmother make out with a one armed midget. i will look into the KB Boost-a-Pump and the Aviator further. thank you everyone for your help, and any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :hail2:
