Installed my turn downs today and took off the catback

Wow what a difference. The car sounds 10 times better and meaner, and it is quite a bit louder. It also feels like I picked up about 10rwhp by just taking off the tail pipes. Only thing that sucks is now the back end of my car looks like complete ass with no tips. I'm probably going to end up getting GT exhaust hangers and buying a catback. AGAIN! Now all I got to do is install the lowering springs in the back and install the Steeda heavy duty rear sway bar.

The Roush Rear Valance is really cool looking. That would cover up the holes

Check out the other thread started a few days ago about electric cutouts.
If you like the sound so much but don't like the empty looking backfield why not put a set on and then you can run both and be mean on request with a flip of the switch.

Or you can buy a v6 bumper painted for around $200 or so on the internet

I wish I knew how to make a sound clip.

And I have a full Saleen body kit so a V6 bumper or Roush bumper would look retarded.

I know it might be more complicated than this since you have a great paintjob, but isnt there a way you can mold the exhaust tip holes? Ive read about this somewhere, dunno if it would be more trouble than its worth, but just something to think about. Good luck.

what if you just took the old tips and welded them in so they fill the holes. then it looks like you got a full exaust like you had, but now empty holes. Just an idea?

This what my friend did on his old foxbody. He had the muffler shop line up the tips and weld the straight pipe on top of the turndowns.

Didn't you realize when you yanked out the catback and installed dumps that the tailpipes would no longer be sticking out the back???

You could just weld cutouts after the mufflers and keep the stock tailpipes. Then you can just unscrew the cover to make it dump when you want.. they sell them on at www.summitracing.com

I didn't install the turn downs because I like them. I installed them because I HAD TO. Right at the moment I cannot have tail pipes.

Sorry, I was trying to flame ya or nothing, I guess I just didn't understand the original post whereas you said, "Only thing that sucks is now the back end of my car looks like complete ass with no tips" and "I'm probably going to end up getting GT exhaust hangers and buying a catback - AGAIN!"
Why was it necessary to remove the catback you had and install turn downs? And now you'll have to buy another catback??? I mean, you're the one with the head banging against the wall - and I'm just trying to understand the thread...

I had 99 Cobra IRS stock and I took it out and sold it and got me a solid axle. So now I have a solid axle under my car with IRS exhaust hangers. I had Eibach Pro Kit springs on my car when it was IRS and I got GT springs for the rear because I couldn't fit my 28" ET Streets under it if I had Pro Kit. So, lets review the situation...I now have a 99 Cobra with solid axle and Pro Kit lowering springs in the front and stock GT springs in the back. Since they are calibrated different the springs make the car VERY unstable at speeds. At about 60mph if you jerk the steering wheel 5 inches you will be going for a ride in the ditch. Also the exhaust I had was 3" custom made with custom hangers where they needed to be for that exhaust. Even with the GT springs in the back the exhaust would hit the axle when I went over a rail road track with someone in the back seats or when I launched very hard at the track. So I knew when I lowered down the rear the exhaust would almost be sitting on the axle. SOOOOO I cut off the exhaust so it wouldn't hit the axle when I installed the lowering springs and I am installing the lowering springs so the car will be a good driver around town. Does it make any sense now?
