Installed new brakes....now have some ?'s

2 days ago we installed new cross drilled and slotted powerslot rotors and hawk HPS pads on my car. The car stops nice but it makes alot of noise from the rear. The drivers side makes a grinding noise when I hit the brakes and the passengers side makes a squeak noise as im driving. Does this mean I did something wrong or do I just need to wait for the break in period to end? Both noises come from the rear breaks. Thanks.

Did you bed the pads in after installing them ?

Ok now im looking stupid but what does bed the pads mean? And yes the rotors were cleaned with break cleaner.

A lot of performance pads want you to perform quick stops or a series of stops in a cetain order to get the pads to bed in or seat with the rotor. Usually there are directions in or on the box.

Directions had nothing about that but I was just doing some reading on it. Should I do it right away or get some miles on them first? Thanks man
