installed new intake.. massive over heating?

i got my new intake on, but my temp gauge will fly up to the red overheat bar in less than 5 minutes. im gussing i have some air in my coolant system, because the top of my intake is still very cool. i have read that steam can cause the temp gauge to go way up, so what can i do to get it out?

first of all, let the car cool down. then take the radiator cap off and fill it up as necessary. then let it run with the cap off for a little while until the thermostat opens.

just did that, had the heater on full blast and let it idle around 1500, after about 45 sec - 1 min the radiator filler neck started to over flow so i had to shut the car off

that happened to me when i did mine. i just took off the temp sending off the lower intake and poured water in til it spilled out.

its either air or wrong intake gasket
but try what ^he did first

try parking the car up a hill...to attempt to get the filler neck at the highest point. Also make sure your not leaking coolant into your oil(although this shouldent cause overheating)

damn u, lol, i was just about to say, put it on a steeper hill, or ramps, take the cap off fill it, leave the cap off and start it, this should let the air bubbles come towards the front of the car, since the front is higher than the rear at that point.. unless maybe theres a kink in a hose...??

got it fixed, i think. havent driven it yet. before i tried to fix it i ran the car with heater on full blast for a while.. just cool air. took off the sensor right after the thermostat and put nearly a gallon of coolant into it before i topped it off. plugged the sensor back in, ran it with heat on, got hot, and my coolant got sucked in. i think im all right now!
