Cleveland,Oh
i finally installed the predator and just maxed out the timing from the get go. i put sunoco 94 in my tank. i took it for a ride and beat on it for about 15 minutes. it seemed to be fine i did not here any pinging. although i have never heard pinging so i really don't know what it sounds like. all i know is that i did not hear any new noises so i guess its ok. i'm still nervous though. i'm afraid to do damage to the car and i'm thinking about backing off a little just to be safer. what do you guys think? any experiences?

I haven't had any problems with timing maxed on my '99. Just make sure you run the high octane. With everything turned off, you can't miss pinging at WOT in my opinion. I tried leaning up the fuel with timing maxed and heard pinging around 3500-4500k WOT, so I put it back to original predator fuel setting.

You may already know this, but maxing the timing is only at WOT. The base predator tune also increases the timing all around, though, I believe over stock.

hey crazyhorse let me know if you have any problems. i'm still a little paranoid. i backed mine off 2% today. not sure if that matters or not. i was thinking of using that data log feature to monitor the spark advance but i'm too busy and lazy to mess with it. diablo says that if it drops off a lot then the timing is too high but they don't tell you how much is a lot. aholes

By "timing maxed", do you guys mean maxing the spark advance?
