Installing a 4R70W

As a method of upgrading my AOD, I purchased a NOS 98 4R70W. Except of a valve body recal kit the trans already has most of the upgrades to support 500hp. Physically the new trans will fit exactly where the AOD is. Tail shaft housing is swapped to a short one.
This being a electrically modulated trans, needs a puter. I've really heard about, as far as a trans puter, is a Baumannator TCS™ . Before I spring $550 for one w/harness. What other devices will interface, the 4R70W with my 1965 Mustang 2+2 5.0 EFI?? My EFI puter is a A9P, trans specific puter, and the harness is DIY using a lot of http://fordfuelinjection.com/ circuts.
Any one have experience using a AODE/4R70W trans??

Thanks for the reply bnickle.

Luckily whe your adding a AODE/4R70W to a car already with EFI all the sensors, like a TPS, are already there.

I'm kinda looking to find other ways of operating the trans w/o specifically using a Baumannator TCS. Like a totally manual valve body w/a switch to actuate the lock up feature. During a search the idea that can be done turns up, but no specifics.

The Baumannator is probably the best way to go, I just wanted to know all the options available, & make a knowledgable choice.

good luck and let us know what you find out. i've been considering doing an AODE in my next project as it's going to injected but i'll most likely be using a holley pro-jection commander 950 system so i don't know if the trans computer will jibe with the pro-jection TPS. gotta do some research on that one when the time comes. if they won't work together i'll just a regular AOD with a Lentech valve body

Its my understanding, that though they can share sensors the EFI & trans puter are stand alone. So interfacing the two shouldent be too big a problem, note Baumann connections http://www.becontrols.com/products/tcsfullharness.htm . Though for ECC-IV, Holley should work too.
The more I find out, the more convinced I become, the 4r70w is just the ultimate in the AOD family.
