anyone here ever done this?

I know the 03/04 Cobra IRS is a relatively easy swap, with little fabrication

but being a bling freak...I gotta know if the Kugel piece is doable without major fabrication.

usually see the Kugel set-up on full frame rods.....wondering if anyone has ever done it on a modern unibody street car

it's a serious piece of jewelry

if your willing to spend that much on IRS, then I assume that your willing to spend as much as needed for all the needed fabrication to install that on non-IRS GT.

I would think its cheaper to find someone with cobra that wants Stick axle, and have individual piece chrome plated(like A arm, 1/2 shaft, pumpkin etc..) would still be cheaper then what your thinking about doing

There are alot of reasons on that page that say no, one is that it is designed for GM specific cars, they don't tell you but since mostly pro custom shops who know what their doing might pull it off, BUT it's a huge waste of money to fabricate, since you'd have to grind off the chrome and cut and weld and rechrome, trial and error, you'd have to find gm rims and calipers to fit your ford set-up, it would be a custom one-on set-up if you did it and I never said it was impossible but if you had the money and time to do it then do it

It would be a waste since you can do that with a Ford perfect fit IRS system out of a cobra, just buy the cobra IRS from someone and get the parts chromed

And the last word is: I suggest you stay away from the cobra IRS if you're just doing it for show, there are alot of people out there that use it for road racing and autoX that use the suspension insted of blinging it out like platinum teeth, there are a limited amount of IRS's out there

It's for a show car......money well spent if that's what turns your crank

based on your perspective.....I shouldn't have bought a Stang in the first place...since I don't flog it on the race track

thanks for your help

Do you have a buget laid out? or sponsors? will you do the work? i see it being possible but you have to either have the tools/knowhow or a shop to get it done right, and on top of that to look around for wheel/brakes or axle matching, could have to move the tank but whatever does happen you'll have to chop the rear frame
and do some routing work on wiring and pipes

MY perspective on a Ford IRS that is in high demand and low quantities for racing applications has nothing to do with buying a mustang for show.

Same thing can go for buying a nitrous bottle and putting it in the trunk and not having any line hooked to it and saying you have juice, get the point? It's still your car and you can do whatever you want to it no matter what :nice:

thanks for your help
your welcome

He's only saying that cause the IRS is in very short supply, and there are alot of people who want it and would actually have use for its function over a solid rear.

You can make a stock rear look pretty if you wanted to.
