Installing Accufab TB...question...

Did any of you have problems getting the stock TPS (throttle position sensor) of the stock tb? I think my screws are corroded in there and will not come out. I sprayed down with liquid wrench but I can't even get them to budge.

Ford uses a nasty lock-tite on their TBS screws which makes them damn near impossible to get out of the stock unit. You can use a cutting disk on a drill to make a nice groove in the screw that you can use a slotted screw driver to break the screws with or you can go pick up a new TBS at most auto supply stores. They're not too expensive.

I had to grind mine down and a grinder wheel to take off the head of the screw. Probably not the best way, but it worked. Had to be careful not to destroy the sensor.

Dammit...I hate Locktite. Locktite is not the home mechanic's friend!!!

Just get a drill-bit that is a little too large to fit in the head of the screws then start drilling straight into the head of the screw, slowly and not with alot of force and the head of the screw will eventually spin right off. Then you can slide the TPS off of the broken screws. Then just use some pliers and spin the broken screws out of their holes. You should have the new ones that came with the TB.

Here's the easy way.....The vice-grip is your friend. Thats how I got my stripped(sp?) screws out.

try loosening them after its warm. I just wen out to loosen mine to see.. and they came right undone. also.. using an offset handle or a ratched with a philips bit in it will work also.. dont cut them or anything..

I used a Dewalt cordless drill with the bit it came with. The bit fit nice and tight and came out nicely. I sat there with a scredriver and was only able to get one out and half stripped the other.

Use the drill and push it hard against the screw, should come out with ease.

Your TB came with new screws right?

I put the plenum/TB assembly in my Black & Decker Workmate to secure it, then used a power screwdriver to remove them-pretty easily. Use a bit that fits the screw properly. Once you start to strip the head, you're...ummm....screwed!
