Installing Engine do it with or without trans

I find it easier to do with the tranny attached. It also helps if you have the car elevated too, or at least a slanted driveway.

I just did mine without the tranny. Just put the whole clutch assembly on it with the shorty headers. Took about five minutes to put in. I have put it in with the tranny, took about 45 minutes. Just depends, If you don't want to scratch the paint. I wouldn't, just to be on the safe side.

putting engine in

i have done my engine at least two maybe three times and i have never put the tranny on it when i did it. you would need a long chain and a tall cherry picker to do that. you would have to get the angle just right and guiding a 400 plus pound engine with another 100lb. tranny attached to it will make it a lot more difficult. save yourself the agrevation and do it with the clutch and bellhousing on and it will go in in minutes and attaching the tranny is only four bolts, the mount and the double hump cross member. i wouldn't chance messing up your new paint. i did mine with long tube mac headers installed but no tranny. hope my info. helps.

I would install it with the clutch, bellhousing,& headers already installed, then bolt up the tranny afterwords. best of luck

with a manual tranny i find it easiest to install as one. jack the REAR of the car as high as possible on jack stands or whatever safely. a engine leveler is your friend when doing this as well. the more you put on outside of the car, makes it less to put on later while hunched over the fender. the less you have to install on your back the better. you wont be scratching the paint at all. wrap the tail shaft with a rag or whatever. take your time, and make it as easy and painless as possible.
