Im planning on attempting to install my 3.55 gears but I have a question about presses. Do you think a 10ton press will suffice to press the bearings on/off?
Thanks
Thanks
Use a quality clam-shell to remove the old bearings. Also, make sure you tighten up the clam-shell before you begin to prevent stripping the cage and roller from the inner race.
When pressing on make sure the bearing is being pressed straight and square to prevent the bearing from jamming. This is very important at the first inch of press.
I have removed and reinstalled carrier bearings with a gear puller and my 12 ton Harbor Freight press. If it wont pull them, something else is wrong.
