Installing H-pipe in 1 hour! Have 2 questions?

I just received my mac off road h-pipe. Didn't come in durablack like I ordered but I cant wait another 3 weeks so whatever, I'm installing it as is. First question is=do I use the same hardware on the factory stock exhaust manifolds for this h-pipe, because it came with new hardware=but I can only imagine how hard it would be to take the old rusted studs out of the stock headers! Second question=any tips on making it easier to take off and re-install the smog pump air tube to and from the h-pipes. Thanks for any help. Heard of using a hose to reinstall the h-pipe to the air tube, anyone know where to get this hose?

You cannot use a garden variety GARDEN hose. hehe

As for the bolts you're referring to:

I've no idea what bolts your exhaust came with so can't tell you if what you got with yours is good replacement for the stock stuff or if it's something else.

Had you ordered from Bassani or someone equal, you would have had a length of hose come WITH your h-pipe for plumbing up the smog pump.

I predict the use of several 4 letter words in your near future.

i wouldnt advise using any rubber type hose as it will melt. especially if its laying on the exhaust or touching a manifold. is there anyway you can let an exhaust shop reattach the smog equipment for you, and you install the pipe yourself?

and for the bolts if the old ones are still good, use them. and yes they are a pain to get out. and if you break one during the process you are really screwed then.

If you remove the studs to install new ones, you're a better man than I!

The new hardware is nice for making the H-to-Catback connection though.

Be prepared to pull the H-pipe hanger.

I used a heater hose to connect my smog stuff on my car and my buddies to the h-pipe and it is holding up fine. I check it every few weeks to make sure it doesn't melt and it has been fine.

Although you have probably already installed or installing it, I'll put out a couple ideas.

You can remove the old studs by "double nutting" them. Screw on two manifold nuts onto the stud and use an small open-end wrench on the top nut and back out the stud. The two nuts will "lock" and you will be able to back it out more than likely.

A little PB Blaster would not hurt.

Yeah, a thick heater hose would be okay I believe.

I have used the Thick Heater hose on all my H-pipe Installs..works fine.
And...definitely remove the H-pipe hanger.It will cause you too much pain otherwise.

1st - All your stock stuff with be rusty and a pain in the azz. I took a wizzer and cut every bolt off. I didn't mess around with it. 2nd, you should just replace your stock headers. I wouldn't dick around with them anyways.

2nd - You dont' remove the stock air tube. You cut it off near the end and use a rubber hose THAT SHOULD BE SUPPLIED to attach the stock metal line to the aftermakert midpipe metal line. If you would of bought BBK you would of had the line and hose clamps supplied in the deal

I use heater hose as well. I cut about 6" and slide it on with a little WD-40 and use hose clamps. It's been there for years no prob

I've had a rubber cap on my tube for 3 years without any problems. Around 4 years is the time I change it out (wish list-house,welder,white picket fence)....

Not always true. In the desert (for instance), the fasteners are just fine. He lives in LA so his might not have been too bad.

The proper way would be to slide the pipes apart. If cutting and splicing, silicone line is better than rubber though I have used rubber myself.
