I just got my March performance pullies from summit racing. :) But I tried to install them today and had a hell of a time getting the bolt off the harmonic balancer I tried an impact gun, breaker bar, breaker bar with another bar for extra leverage and still couldnt get that darn thing off. Id like to know how you guys got yours off. Thanks a bunch.

I had to use a 1/2 inch gun on mine. Had to take fans and radiator tank out to get gun in there. Still was a pain but it broke it loose. And please put silicon back in key way or you will get a leak....

thanks for the advice, ill try removing it tommorow that way I could get a better angle on the bolt. Today i used a pivoting socket extension. Also im not clear as to what you are talking about when you say i need to put silicon on the key way because it will leak. My misunderstanding is what is going to leak???

What year is your car? I have an 04 and when you pull the pulley off it has a key way on the crank. I put Steeda pulleys on mine and in the instructions it tells you to put it on the key way so it want leak. And there was some on the old pulley also. But dumb me didnt have any so i installed them and about 2 days later it started leaking. Had to take it off, put silicon on the key way and bolt and no leaks since. If you have a good 6 point socket that helps alot 2--dont remember what the size was. If you can get the gun straight on with just the socket it should come loose. Hope this helps. Let me know....

Forgot to tell you what leaks. The pulley just slides on the key way and into the block on the crank.
When the pulley is off you can see a little bit inside the block. I guess Ford knows what they r doing but doesnt seem like a good set up to me...

Thats crazy that you can see in the block, does seem like a wierd design. Mines an 04 as well. I had to put everything back together which wasnt bad at all it took maybe 5 minutes. I had to have the car drivable to get me to school tommorow. But after school and work ill go home and finish up the job, is there anything i should know about removing the fan? looked very simple from when i checked it out today. Thanks again.

Yea not much to it. I think it has one plug on the left front ( that is looking down at it standing in front of the car) Then maybe one bolt on each side holds it in. I took my radiator tank loose and it has enough slack in the lines so you can lay it to the side out of your way. Then the fan just pulls straight up.
