Hey guys. I just got my raptor shift light last week and just got my car back after the 3.73s are installed. So its time to finally install the Speed-cal and the light tomorrow. I started installing the Raptor today but it got dark and had to stop.

I velcro'ed it inside the vent and ran it through to the passenger's side. then down behind the glove box. I see the chassis ground...and i see the pwoer source that i need to splice into...

But where does the green wire of the raptor shift light splice into "one of the 8 cylinders" in the PCM?? Does anyone have pictures? The ones from Raptor's website weren't too helpful for me.

Anyone help me out?

yes u have the ground and the power like u said and the 3rd wire goes into one of the "one of the 8 cylinders" . So u got that down pat.

Take off the kick panel and u will see the 3 screws they tell u to take out to move the connectors. Then take the bolt out of the PCM harness and take the black cover off the connector so u can see the bare wires going into the connector.

Now if u look at their pictures u will see how they look at the end of the pcm connector. They have it labels Pin #26 and with the index sliders on the top of the connector the wire will be the bottom left most wire. So turn the connector over and find the wire in that corner. According to them its a Light green with a white tracer line. Splice into that and u have her all setup.

Test the shift light b4 you put the pcm and all the bolts/kickpanel back in. Your on the right track and good luck.

Yep!

Also, you can just find the lime green with a white stripe in the wire bundle, theres only one I think. That's what I did, I was too lazy to the ECM out

just be sure you use the 22ga redwire taps like they listed now. When I had my old shiftlight I had the blue ones and it causes alllll kinds of problems lol.

1st off how do you test the shift light? i tried giving it power and ground but nothing really happend, im guessing casue of the green RPM sensor wire. So whats a quick way to test it.

2ndly, yeah i don thave that 22ga taps. I have 16ga Scotch Locks which im going to use. Maybe i can tape them in their real good? I wasn't able to find any to buy and the BMW parts guys i work with just gave me some of those, they didn't have 22 gauge either. I'll give it a shot and see whats goin on.

What wire is that Lime Green w/ white striped wire you are telling me to splice into? What does that go to? Cause im guessing its not one of those 8 cylinder COPS wires.

I had the blue 18ga clips on my first shiftlight.. which caused it to throw a code saying the fuel pump was disabled. everything was fine with the car though. I got frustrated and after having a bazillion people ask me if it was hooked up right (which it was) I sold it to a friend. and it worked fine on his car. not wanting to give up i bought another shiftlight and then they had addedt hat little note about not using the blue clips, so of course i used the red clips and no problems since then.

The green wire is for the rpms.. thats where the shiftlight knows what rpm the engine is at, so it knows when to light up. the 12v source is the same power source for the COPS.. the shiftlight was able to tell me my car was missing out because of the cops lol, the shiftlight was going crazy, kept powering off and back on and i found out i had holes in some of my cop boots.

Ok well i semi-untangled that mess of wires going in to the back of the pcm from the bottom. I pulled them apart and i see one dark green w/ white striped wire and one light green w/ white striped wire. I'm guessint he "lime" light green wire is the one you are all talking about.

Am i in the right spot? The lime green wire with the whtie stripe going into the back/bottom of the PCM is the RPM wire you want me to tap into?

And csledd...i still dont get how your car would be throwing fuel pump codes. Was it your wiring and blue connectors that was the problem? Or was that just dum chance? Cause i have the blue connectors and now you're scaring me

It had to be the blue connectors because thats the only thing that really changed when I put the new one in.. I even hooked it up exactly the same. But for some reason the blue connectors have worked on some peoples cars.. so I have no idea. I just knew it threw a code in my car for no reason, as soon as I unhooked the blue connectors it went away lol.

The blue connectors are 12-16ga i think. These wires are like 20-22ga. So you need the red connectors which are 18-22ga. I used the red connectors. I acutally found some. So i scotch locked the wires and connected them to the red connectors.

Haven't driven the car yet, but it lights up nicely when i start the car

Also, when i installed the light into the driver side vent (center left one). I removed the plastic flap to open and clsoe the vent, to allow more room for hte light. did anyone else do this or just me? just wonderin
