Installing speedo gear in tremec 3550 question

I just got a 23 tooth gear and i haven't done this before on any car so i'd like to know what's involved. I know where the speed sensor is on the tranny but will fluid come out, any tips, etc? Thanks.

No fluid to bathe in unless you remove the wrong plug...

The speedo gear is secured in place on by a small spring clip on the end of the speedo gear, don't lose it. Pull the VSS sensor out by removing the bolt. Then remove the spring clip, remove the gear, install new gear, install spring clip. Check the O ring around the VSS sensor and replace if damaged. Re-install the VSS sensor and bolt it down.

When I pulled the speedo cable out, tranny fluid came out. I have a tremec 3550 though, so it's probably a different design than stock.
