I didnt do my own so i dunno how to do it right. We followed the instructions but heres my question. Is there a difference in size in the new retaining bolt vs. the old retaining bolt for the crank balancer? I ordered the kit of the net from somone on stangnet for a buddy and when we put the new retaining bolt that was provided it didnt seem to reach in far enough to catch the threads. Thanks

i think you only use the bolt youre talking about to start the crank pulley than you use the old bolt to finish it, try steeda they make have a copy of instructions online or someone on here might know a link

Do you have the steeda pullies installed? The bolt for the T/A should be the same length as the stock bolt. If you have any doubt CALL STEEDA! You dont want to break a bolt in the crank! Many on here have had this nightmare

It appears that when we tried to push the retaining bolt in, it just wasn't catching the threads. The timing ajuster's hub seems thicker than the stock washer, so shouldn't the new retaining bolt be longer?

Yes, the timing adjuster should have come with a longer bolt to use. Is the one that came with your T/A longer than the bolt you took out?

No it was the exact size as the stock retaining bolt. 2k2fourpointsix said it was the same size...so which is it?

bump come on guys my friend needs this, his car is just sitting with no belt on or anything. I just need to be 100% sure that the new bolt should be longer than the stock one.

Was this a new kit or someones used kit? Maybe they put in the wrong bolt. The kit should come with a new one. Does the bolt look new? Here are the instructions.

I sent this T/A to Cali03Boss. As I recall, the newer bolt is longer to clear the additional thickness introduced by the T/A. Somehow I managed to get the wrong one in the mail.
