Hello, first post on the site, I bought an 88 gt back last summer and have been restoring it very slowly, im currently on the cluster and I did an led swap because all of the old bulbs were barely visible, there is an intense bleed through, it was there before i got the car. Is there a way to fix this without replacing the entire cluster?

You need to the portions of the cluster lens that are directly exposed to the LEDs and black them out.

Tape, paint, other, you choose.

It looks like you might also need to seal any light leaks going by the edges of gauge faces.

It could be that it just looks super bright in the image.

The guage face has delaminated from the plastic frame.

you either need to reglue the gusge face back down, or pick up a donor cluster and swap your speedo over to keep the mileage. (If it matters to you). You can even upgrade to a 140mph speedo now if you want.

these clusters are modular, so those individual sections come out and can be swapped around.

Is there any preferred glue that would be good for it? I want to keep the 85 mph because I find it funny.

This I don’t know as I’ve never attempted to repair one. Likely you’ll need to remove the old glue using a mild solvent, and then experiment to find a suitable glue.

you can likely find another 87-88 7k RpM cluster fairly cheap and just swap it all
