I checked the Search button but I couldn't find what I was looking for...

I've got an 87 GT with the speedo only going up to 85. I'd like to swap in a panel with the speedo going up to 140. Are the connectors a direct swap? Will I need to have anything adjusted professionaly so the gauges read correctly? And third...I'm not sure, I've looked in pictures. What years had the 140 speedo? I think its 90-93?

im doing the same thing right now. I have a 87gt with a stock 85mph speedo. I put some white face gauges on that go to 140mph. What i need to calibrate it is the 'guts' off of a 89 1/2-93 V8 speedometer. There is a way to swap whole clusters, however the 90-93 had airbags so im not sure what mods are needed to do this.

What i am doing is looking on ebay and local junkyards for a 89 /2-1993 140mph speedometer or the whole cluster. Then ill just swap the guts of the speedo and it will accurately read to 140mph

50 resto sells a white face kit that inlcudes the 140 speedo guts, they also sell the speedo by itself. It's a little more than a junkyard score, though. Also the 90-93 clusters supposedly won't work - the connectors are different because of the airbags. You need an '89. You can also just grab the speedo guts (sorry for getting so technical) from any cluster and stick it in yours without replacing the whole thing. Keep in mind your odometer will go with it, and you're supposed to file a disclosure of inaccuracy with DMV when you change the odometer reading (at least in CT).

BTW anyone know where I can get white faces for my cluster? (160mph "certified" police speedo)

eh no biggie, i'm gonna change the motor eventually anyways. figure if i fart around with the speedo long enough i can set the milage to what i've got now. if nothing else, take a picture of my current one and date it. yeah i saw the 50resto one. looks pretty nice and the white face is much easier to read then the old black background.
