Intake fitting is hitting the valve cover ?help?

Ok, i got some of those efi ford racing valve covers with the ridges on top, well on the drivers side , on the bottom of the upper intake there is a fitting with hoses going to the front and rear ...this fitting is hitting the valve cover and keeping the intake from seating all the way down ....

how am i gonna fix this ?? i just finished screwing with the throttle bracket on the otherside cuz it was hitting ...... grrrrrrrr!!!! WTF dont they make these things to fit right

Hmm the fitting your talking about is where the PCV connects to the intake.. not sure how to get around this one.

You could buy a half inch spacer for your intake if you have the hood clearance?

Usually the PVC hose loops from the bottom center of the upper intake to the plenum area that sits over the rocker cover. You could remove and plug the plenum fitting and just use the vacuum fitting in the center. The type of fitting (screw in or press in) depends on what type of upper manifold you have. Naturally, the screw in type fittings are easier to plug. Press in fittings could be welded, JB weld epoxied or drillled & tapped for a suitable plug.

Just get a 3/8ths(depending on how much space you need) spacer between the upper and lower and you should be ok. 1 inch is about where your upper hits the hood so just stay under an inch and you should be ok.

Hey man I am assembling a 95 302 and I have noticed that the 95 valve covers are shorter and more compact than a 93 and under, plus they are thin metal and therefore are lighter, so for my clearance issue and as a weight savings, I use 95 valve covers. Might help ya

ok, thanks for the input guys ...is the spacer something i can buy at ford or napa or somewhere , or am i gonna have to order it?

Go to a speed shop (or mail order) for the plenum spacers, they have a performance benefit also in that theyt don't allow as much heat to soak up thru the intake into the upper where it heats up the air, which we all know is bad.

mach 71 - you've learned the hard way that it would've helped to ask for/get some real specific measurements before you changed the covers. Don't make the same mistake again - measure to see if you have enough hood clearance before you go after the spacer. Also, be absolutely certain you're completely clear on the throttle linkage and the fitting. Even if it's barely touching, it can be enough interference to snap an ear off the intake when you go tighten it. Good luck.
