I want to get a Intake Manifold. I was looking at the Edelbrock Performer and Performer RPM. I know I can put the performer on the stock engine. What about the RPM, do I need to go with a aftermarket cam? I dont want a rough idle cam, can I just throw on a RPM, and not have problems. Thanks

the RPM will bolt right on too. The only thing you MIGHT notice is a little less lowend power and a little more top end power over the Performer 5.0 with the RPM. You dont need a cam yet... wait until you get some new heads for your car to get a new cam.

In your case, definitely go with the regular performer and not the RPM. The stock heads and cam will work much better with it than the RPM contrary to recent discussions on here. The RPM should be run on a car that is geared and cammed for it and a stocker is not.

well i can tell u from first hand experience, i went from stock intake to performer rpm... big big notice in low-end torque/power, but a significant notice in top end power.. really pulls, only problem is we redline at 5800 and our cam makes power to like 5400... rpm pulls to 6500, its definitely overkill, go with the performer 5.0, that is what i will be switching too very soon, also note that i was planning on doing the 5.0 but due to some stuff happening the rpm went on meanwhile

Been in your boat. First thing to realize is where you are going with your car. However, I don't see any reason for the RPM at all in your situation. In fact a street driven car likes yours would benefit greatly with all the extra TQ the performer will give you. However, if the next thing your buying and shortly will be Heads and Cam(higher reving cam)and you want to take the stock short block into higher RPM's then RPM might be fine. However, I strongly urge you to get the Performer and that will make you most happy. Honestly you don't want to rev that stock block too much past 6 and the performer is ideal for that. Once you add heads and cam to that performer you will have lots of low end torque and you will love it. Trust me and the others telling you to get the Performer. :nice:
