I have a V6 but no one on the V6 forum is really helping so I was wondering if anyone here could help me. I bought a intake for the V6 on ebay I finally got the chance to put it in the other day I drove it around the block and it started to make a realy weird dry sucking noise it sounded really unhealthy for the car. Does anyone now why this might be if you could help me out that be great thanks all. My dad listened to it aswell and he thinks its sounds like a really bad grinding sound and wants me to pull the intake out. Thats not really what I want to do I really want to make it work and sound good. I didn't put in this metal screen thing that came with the intake I wasn't sure if it was needed can anyone let me know what to do.

Thanks, I guess I will go put the stock intake back on this afternoon. Is there anything else I can do to get a diferent intake on there cause the stock one is really weak. Should I go by a chip for the car and have a dyno place work with me car for a couple hours. Does anyone else have any sort of suggestion.

That dry sucking noise is probably normal since the air silencer is gone when you install a CAI. If you are really concerned, take it to the dyno with the CAI installed and have them check your air:fuel ratios.

Nothing to worry about. If all you hear is air that is normal. It's the sound of you car breathing normally.

First off, I am an ex-v6 owner and I have found you will have better luck getting the info you need from www.v6power.net/vb or www.3.8mustang.com/forums they know the v6's more than any of the 4.6 guys here, plus all of the GT/Cobra owners here will tell you to trade the v6 in for a GT/Cobra, which doesn't help you.

Now for your problem...what type and/or brand of intake did you get? Does the filter fit in the fenderwell? You will hear the air being sucked in a lot more with the new CAI than you did with the stock intake. So, maybe the noise you are hearing is just the air. Now if you are saying that you have some grinding noises, that could be a different story. I'm not sure where the grinding would be coming from, because typically there are no moving parts near the intake. If you could give us some info, we/I may be of more help other than hearing "put your stock intake back on." Seriously, check out v6power or 3.8mustang, they are super helpful over there.

Thanks everyone one for all your help. Today I had some free time so I decided to take it down to the Dyno place down the road and they spent half and hour with it and then they said I was good to go. I wasn't really 100% convinced of what they said. So I went to go get a second opinion on the sounds of the car so I took it to the local Ford dealership and a one of the guys there that does most the work on the cars that we take in and he took it out came back ten minutes later and said it was good to go. All the places were really good to me and didn't charge me a dime. So if your in the colorado area and want some help with your mustang just ask me about the places and I will get you there adresses and I will tell you the guys to talk to.

My dad and I are looking for a mustang witht the same year body style as ours that isn't in great shape and drop a 5.4 in that. We haven't found one yet. I still need to have a car that can get me to school and be able to go out on dates with the 5.4 would make that a little ruff. If any one see's a mustang thats not in great shape that is for sell let me know.
