Fairly common problem, actually. My '01 Saleen came from the factory with the wire unhooked at the sensor. If you can follow the wire from the gauge, just check that it hasn't been cut or unhooked somewhere.

when i bought my 01 it didnt work, the connect was bad, I cut the wire off at the sending unit and put a new end on it and it worked fine
