Intercoollers??

The reason that turbo guys run intercoolers is because they run off exhaust gases. You don't need an intercooler with a supercharger. If the kit comes with one, I say go for it, but otherwise don't waste your money.

Does anyone know if it is really worth putting on an Intercooler or Aftercooler with a super Charger setup? For the price is the HP gain really worht it?

There is no intercooler/aftercooler setup for vortechs in our cars. It would have to be totally custom. Like joe said SC's dont need them. Atleast not if your gonna be running under 13#'s of boost. When the time comes, just go with a water injection kit.

I wouldnt feed this kind of stuff into his head, hes going to get the wrong idea here.

Turbo guys use intercoolers because they usually run more boost then blower cars. Its not nessarly that the inlet temps are any warmer with a turbo as aposed to a blower. Both create boost, which creates a ton of heat, which leads to detonation.

If anything, blower cars need an intercooler just as much as any turbo car would.
I think its really stupid to not include one in the 94-95 Vortech kits. The 4 valve cars have an aftercooler, as do the Foxes, but they do not make one for the 94-95's unless you go with a Procharger.

more boost you run, the more likely the car is to start detonating, without an inter/aftercooler, that is.

Ide just buy a procharger if your set on a blower.. They allow for higher boost levels, because of the supplied intercooler.

The prupose of an intercooler is to cool the intake air temperature. Thats it. It is merely a side effect that you can run more boost and thereby make more power with them. The reason Vortechs do not come with them is a space issue. There is simply no place to put vortech's air to water intercooler in our cars with out serious work. In my car there is barely 5 inches of pipe between the vortec and the throttle body et all. The way you get around not having an intercooler is running less boost, less timing and more fuel. All of these help avoid detonation at the highest boost levels. So as long as you do not go to crazy with your tune, you will not feel the lack of an intercooler.
