Interesting noises

A few days ago I noticed 2 new noises. The one is a ticking sound that sounds like its coming from the valvetrain (more noticable when car is in gear/under load, and at times it also squeeks like a bad belt). The other is a noise that sounds like you're running a pencil or something against a ribbed rubber surface, and it occurs when I apply/release pressure on the clutch. If I pull the valve covers, what should I look for?

Have you checked for a header leak yet? Is the noise more noticable with your windows up? When ever mine ( BBK shorties ) start to leak, I always notice it first when I have the windows up. Just an idea....

I have no idea on the other noise?

I had a sparkplug loosen up and it sounded just like a lifter tick.

what fuel are you using, i had a old truck (chevy 454) that needed to run premium fuel to keep the valves from rattling. i hear this can happen as a engine starts to wear. just a thought

I had a ticking noise from the back wheels. Took it to the shop today, found out it was my bearings.
