Hey everybody, quick question. I'm replacing my carpet and installing some dynamat on the floor. After installing dynamat do I have to install another layer of material like carpet padding or something like that on top of the dynamat as well? If so what kind of material should I use? Any help would be great, thanks...

The new carpet should come with the jute padding already affixed to the back (if you bought a classic Mustang set). In addition to that, I also put down the original-style underlayment on top of the Dynamat, and used a jute padding that I bought at a local shop for just the seat risers on both sides. I'd suggest using some foil tape around the overlaps of the Dynamat. You can buy a big roll of HVAC tape at a hardware store for about $10. This will help keep moisture out and stops the sticky black glue from getting all over.

Be sure you lay things down first and check pedals clearance / travel...

I bought the Trimparts cut-pile carpet along with one of the jute pads they sell at the parts houses. On the drivers side things ended up too thick and the clutch pedal wouldn't depress all the way. Fun to find out when you've already glued everything down nicely...

If you haven't already you should get the holes again, like screw holes for the dimmer switch; seat belt holes, etc... before it gets too thick.

Also, That tape over the dynamat is a good idea; That black goo becomes horrible to deal with after as you probably already learned.

When installing the carpet i hear you should leave it out in the sun for an hr or so before installing so it becomes easier to mold and cut through for holes.
