What could cause my shiftboot, console around the shifter and the carpet in the ashtray hole to get HOT? I was driving the 90 today, grabbed my lighter out the the ashtray hole and it was ridiciously hot, i felt around and noticed the other parts were hot too.

What could cause this? Exhaust?

First I would check if that little metal-rimmed rubber boot is still around the shifter. With mine out I could actually feel noticeably colder in the winter, and I assume with extensive driving that the heat from the tranny and exhaust would rise into the cabin.

This one seems a little more far fetched, but you might want to look into replacing the tranny fluid. More friction=more heat.

Just some possibilities

Well as long as it's not excessive, it'a normal for a Mustang.

My '03 does it to. On a warm day if you are wearing shorts your right leg will get a little warm.

It's due to the shape of the trans tunnel and the heat from the exhaust rising up.

Of course if it's warmer than usual, i'd check for a clogged/glowing cat

I agree with grey.. . My t/a had a torn boot and in the summer i'd b sweating my f-in ace off in that heat trap.
