Has anyone ever tried the stuff? I want to freshen up my interior stuff, but don't want to order any without knowing how well it works. Also how long does one can last? Any help will be appreciated
I'd give it a 8 out of 10. I did some small parts and the back panels, they have held up wonderfully. But the only thing it didn't work to well on it the glovebox handle(more than likely because I use the handle nearly every day), other than that I would not have a problem ordering it again. I painted everythhing three years ago and so far so good.
I've only used plastic/vinyl paint from parts stores and they've held up fine so I'm sure LRS's interior specific stuff should work even better. Just make sure the prep it right. Spray all your pieces with an adhesive promoter before painting. This helps it stick to the plastic without rubbing off or flaking.
Don't just wipe with an acetone. Trust me on this. Like i said before, put a few even coats of Adhesive Promoter before you paint otherwise the paint will rub/flake off.
I used the Autozone stuff on a junkyard dash pad...i was shocked how well it turned out. It looks like an OEM black dash pad. However, it does scratch easy because the surface underneath is really soft and old/brittle. I didn't do ANY prep to mine other than washing it with Super Clean before i sprayed it. I'm really tempted to do my whole interior with it...that's how good it looks. I think it's safe to assume that sometime down the road you're gonna have to do touch ups if you do the whole interior.
The whole dash, door panels, pulls, pads, console etc. Came out great. I used the prep spray that they sell and I have had no problems with it flaking or peeling off. Now if the outside of the car looked as good as the interior I would be doing good.
Did you use the regular black for the top half of the dash? I also want to do the a arm pillar pieces and the headliner trim pieces since mine are pretty bad. It almost looks like a dark charcoal grey color but its hard to tell really
A friend of mine bought an old S10 that had a tan interior. It was a really nice interior condition wise but it was faded and dirty. He scrubbed it all down with a scotchbrite pad and used the cheap Autozone stuff to do it all in black....it looked factory black. He said the same thing i said...areas that see a lot of wear like kick panels and arm rests are going to eventually need touched up.
25th hasn't chimed in but i'm pretty sure his interior is sprayed black and you wouldn't know by the pictures.
