Im just curious if the internals are any differant in these engines.

I see the 05+ gt's making like 500 rwhp all the time.

if they have the same internals as a 96-04 gt then why do people always say the limit of these engines is 400-450 rwhp?

They are making those power levels running the same amount of boost we are running...

The heads flow better, I'm sure the intake flows better, and it has VVT.

To be honest I'm really not sure of the technical reason of why the bottom end holds up better, but it does more with less (vs what we have) and that has to be better for durability/reliability.

the heads flow much better then ours. More flow is more power on same amount of boost.

the only side effect of all the extra power are spark plugs that break off in the head when you take them out.

but ya, the intake ports look like 4v heads. the VVT is alright, but a lot of people disable it. kinda old tech though, well its new to ford.

I 've heard that the 2v's rods are the weak link. I dont know if the rotating assy. is the same, but they do have aluminum blocks from the factory.

the 05+ makes more power per pound of boost. 550 is really the limit for them or the same 12#.

they have better pistons. top ring is lowered because of the heat in the chamber. also the chamber itself and port dynamics are better than ever 4v.

i have seen for myself stock 05 lower end is good for 7000 rpm with cams and 6600 with stock cams.

Im asking this becuase when I supercharge my 96...Im still trying to figure out a safe amount of boost.

Ive heard that its not the boost you go by, but the power level...like 400 rwhp on my engine is all it can handle..doesnt matter if it takes 8psi or 12psi.

I guess 8-10 psi is safe

you wont be close to 400rwhp with the stock npi heads, cams, and intake at 8-10psi. I think you will be looking at 300-325rwhp.

lol I call . no way? NPI will make like 500 rwhp at 8 psi!

j/k....stock auto npi with 8-10 psi probably wouldnt even make that.

But ive got some good mods....Long tubes/pi intake will help me the most but ive also got 75 mm TB/plenum, O/R Mid pipe which should free up some ponys.

Pi intake is supposed to be worth a solid 30 rwhp on a boosted npi.

Intercooled 10 psi I think I would be looking at 325-350

Theres a guy make 370 with the exact same setup as me and 12 psi intercooled, auto...so im assuming that with 10 psi I would be at like 340-350

I really should throw some PI cams in there before I even put the blower on.

Pi cams are probably worth 20-30 rwhp on my car too with the blower.

NPI parts really suck.

You definitely need PI cams or better to take advantage of any real mods. You can do fine w/out PI heads, intercooled boost with PI intake/cams LT's and bolt on should put you where you want to be no prob. PI heads aren't a huge improvement.

typical PI with bolt-ons will make 425rwhp with a roots/screw at 12psi the stock stuff blows up if it detonate or runs lean. its not a matter of hp its boost that gets them. if tuning isn't real careful.

if you are going to boost then just rebuild the 4v. it will kill all comer boosted. B heads are hard to beat boosted.
