Ok I fond this vid on youtube and I was wondering if anyone can give me any more info on this. The fm transmitters pretty much blow and I had an alpine that I could wire my iPod directly to and it was the ****znizzle to say the least.

Found it. I am not endorsing these products in any way. I don't even know if I am gonna get one. Just showing you guys what is out there. I personally like the factory stereo. I just don't know if I would rather one of these or an in dash screen. here is the link though.

I use a PIE adapter in my car

PIE Precision Interface Electronics

I've had it since 2005 and used it for my SAT radio and IPOD

Did you get the universal with RCA outputs?

I'm interested in doing this myself. I'm assuming the 460 has RCA outputs on it. Is this correct?

I'm a huge fan of the in dash screens, if you have the resources to get one.

There are no RCA's on the 460

I got this
P.I.E. FRDN-AUX 1998-2005 Ford Auxiliary Input Converter

It says it's not compatible but it works fine. This creates two RCA inputs for the 460, so anything that you can adapt to RCA jacks will work. You simply hit CD twice and the "DJ" mode comes up and Aux works. I used it for SAT radio and my IPOD because i used RCA splitters and two RCA to 3.5mm jacks. I had a thread on my Sat radio hookup. I'll have to search for it.

If you want a dedicated ipod controller, yo would need these kits..but i haven't used one

i can vouch for the setup 5l5 recommended. i asked the same question a short while ago, and went with that setup, and it works great. the only downside is that the ipod will not charge while playing, but they do offer a setup that will charge the ipod for i think another $50. i just take my ipod in once a week or so to charge it through my computer.

if you go that route, you have to lower the volume on the ipod just slightly while playing in the car, or it will sound like ass, like it overpowers the mach speakers. lower the volume on the ipod, and crank the volume as loud as you want on the stang and it sounds cd quality, bass and all.

Yeah, i've noticed that too. I usually set my Ipod at 3/4 max volume and then use the Mach 460's volumn knob to adjust.

Is there any adapter that will work with the Mach 1000 HU? I'd love to have Sirius without having to buy a new HU.

i just put a USA-SPEC model PA11-FORD2 in my 03 GT and it works perfect. it cost about $150 but headunits don't really work too well without redoing all the mach 460 wiring, so this was the best option in my opinion that i found that worked on mach systems. installs very easy and you can kind of control the ipod from the headunit... you can fast forward, rewind, skip, and volume.

I have a 03 Cobra with a Mach 460 in dash 6disc changer and I can't get the head unit to go in "DJ" mode. I hit the cd button twice and it just stays on cd mode. Can anyone help

It only works if you buy the adapter unit.

Did you?

Also, i notice mine doesn't work when it's under 30 degrees out. I need to get some heat in the vehicle before it will turn on.

I traded my car in, so i took my adapter out and am willing to sell it.

Well, it's certainly less then elegant. Its like half integrated and half not... I'm a big fan on one location for all the controls with seamless integration. Hence why I ditched the Mach stuff. The Pioneer AVIC-D3 had pretty good ipod control. I actually haven't touched my ipod in about a week. It lives in the center console box thing. And all the control is though the touch screen. I true elegant solution.
