Is 70k Miles Too Much For an '01 Auto GT?

Depends on your perspective. Personally, I would be embarassed if I had put those miles on. If you really need to put 25,000 miles per year on a car, get an old Caprice or something. Don't drive a 2001 Mustang GT into the ground like that.

On the other hand, I think that the 4.6L motor will typically be OK at 70,000 miles. Obviously you will need to pay close attention to the maintenance records, get the car checked out, etc., but it would not surprise me if you were able to get another 50,000 miles out of the car before it really needed an engine overhaul.

Personally, when I look at a car, the things that turn me off are the little things that seem insignificant, but will probably never get fixed. For example, cracked dashboards, expensive accessories that don't work, dingy upholstery, otherwise decent original paint with door dings or scratches, etc.

If the car is all original, and everything works, my advice is thus to use the 70,000 miles as a bargaining point, but within your own head to pay little attention to it.

Id rather drive a new car 25,000 miles a year than a beater. To me that would suck It looks like he is selling it and getting a new one. Now some young person who could under normal circumstances not afford a 01 stang is very happy and he is not worried about voiding a warrantee.

Well I am 17 and I can't afford a new one... I just payed off my Tacoma but I can't stand to drive it anymore...

What I meant by perfect, is that the car shows NO signs of 70k miles on it... none at all. There are hardly any rock chips up front... tires and brakes are new, the interior is PERFECT! I just need to drive it, if the milage is all highway then it isn't that bad.

You should be able to find a car with half the miles for only a couple thousand more.

first off if you traded a 00 GT
in great condition for 9K you are a fool because you could have got 12K+
for it selling it private owner.I would never make the mistake trading or selling
a stang to any dealership.Most dealerships' are there to rip you off for your
stang and then selling it for alot more after you sell it to them
SVT STANG 03 the 2001 Mustang GT you are looking at is not worth 9,540 Edmund and kbb don't reflect the true value of any stang.11,500
would be a great price to pay for a 01 GT because it's worth more than that
with 70K miles.Plus if you drive 25K miles a year get a old caprice or some

if you are don't like 00 Toyota Tacoma sell it for a F150 The 01 GT
sounds like it's been we'll maintaned and tooken care of for 70K miles as you
say.Even if the rear end whines you can always rebuild it with the 4.10's you have and just get a master bearing and shim kit. Good Luck! I hope everything

My 2000 GT has over 76k miles on it. I bought it 2 years ago with 44k miles and since have drove it less and less due to the increased mileage. The only thing that has gone wrong with the car is a faulty driver side window regulator. Other than that, the car runs like a champ! I take EXCELLENT care of it, and still looks like it came off the showroom. Kinda sucks that resale of the car is really bad, most people are too quick to judge a car on mileage alone, and dont look at the whole picture.

VERY true...

I was thinking about getting a '99 SVT Lightning, but those are even harder to come by in AZ. I think this GT is a steal for its condition (as long as it drives/runs as good as it looks)

SVT STANG 03 I would go and test drive it and see if it drives and
runs as good as it look's! It doesn't take a hour of driving it either to
fine out if it's a good running stang or not.The best advice I can give
you is when you are driving it see how the automatic transmission
shifts.It should shift smooth and crisp if the transmission is in good shape.
I think it possibly maybe a cream puff...but,drive it and find out.
I think a 99 SVT F150 Lightning would be a great trade for your
00 Toyota Tacoma! Good Luck!

i said most..i got 12.485 ..everyother dealer "like 4-5" offered 9-9.5 i took that as an insult ...i tried selling it for dealer trade in and nobody wanted it..they where cheaper around here

I'm sorry to hear the dealer's are cheap in your area.12.485 sounds
like a good deal in your case.I would sell private owner only because
some dealerships' like to take advantage of sometimes.

thx, the saleman had a silver 03 cobra showed me dyno slips and stuff, cool guy guess thats why they offered 12.485

my car actually just sold to a female the dealer called to see if i had other key set..the car sold for 13 change...i still miss her

the modular is good for 250.000 miles with no trouble. I have 100.000 on my car and I svo heads and Shm Cam. Pro-Charger is on the way if i blow the motor I will do a rebuiled. But I think it should be ok I drive easy on my car and shift at 2.500rpms. Any way check the car out from top to bottom you should be ok. But I would try to find one with less miles on it. Just my two cents

I say test drive it and if it seems ok, go for it. They may be lots of highway miles, you never know. I would offer in the 9,500 range...

My Gt has close to 90000 miles and its superchargered -- I also take good care of it though mobil 1 every 3000 miles -- etc. ---I drive it more than anyone of my three cars
