Do different CAI's really have a big difference in performance......

ie....would I be able to justify the almost $150-200 more for a name brand??

here's the ebay one......just curious....

the straight shots seem to yield a bit more power because of less turns

but then you have the filter in the engine bay where it sucks in hot air

JLT will give you +8 RWHP on a stock 99-04 GT. But they are pricey. I have one and love it.

JLT, K&N, or Steeda. Those are the only ones I have ever seen make any power.

Honestly they all the same unless you have vents on the hood and get a RAI. The ebay ones are ok but they don't stay shiny at all as the BBC or MAC CAI. I fyou want some shiny intake go for the name brand. BTW i have a MAC here for sale in the classifieds. I switched from a CAI to a RAI from steeda because of my stalker hood vents.

From JLT's site

"2002 GT

Automatic Transmisson

Full Exhaust

Pulleys

MAC CAI and Chip

Test was done same day and at the same time. JLT vs. MAC CAI

Gains of 10 RWHP and 10-12 RWTQ were seen on this test.

These gains were made over the MAC intake!!
"

They have dyno sheets to show it too. On a stock 03 GT 15-20 HP was seen from 5200-5500 RPM

Do you want CAI or HAI. You buy that thing from e-bay and you are gonna have a HAI. Chromed steel looks good on exhust pipes would you want to touch one of those after it has been running awhile? Probabaly not !

Yes, they don't retain heat nearly as much as metal.

Stop posting in blue? Nobody else feels the need to post in different colors

I tried one of the el cheapo ones on eBay... You get what you pay for. No Instructions, not that they were needed but still, fitment was not exact which made it a pain in the ... to install and overall made no performance difference because the chrome got so hot that you could hardly touch it. Overall, I wouldn't recommend one. After all once you pay for the Intake plus shipping it comes out to be $50 or more anyway... Worth the extra $50 to $75 for Name brand.

Don't forget to have it professionally installed like the suggest.
