Is a nitrous bottle warmer needed in the summer?

Is a nitrous bottle warmer needed in the summer months, when it's hot out, or are they only for during the fall months when it's a little cooler outside.
I know their purpose is to keep bottle pressure at/around 900-950psi but was wondering if a warmer is need when it's hot oustide.
 
As any compressed gas expands, it gets cooler. Having a bottle warmer keeps the temp up as the gas inside the bottle expands as the pressure drops. It also helps to keep the pressure closer to the optimum level.
 
i have noticed that i am faster in the summer then in the spring on the juice. currently i do not have a bottle warmer but i have one on order. I would have to agree that you need a bottle warmer all year round after all the serious racers have spare bottles sitting in warm storage so they are ready to go when they need them.
 
Yeap, consistant bottle pressure is the only way you can keep the tune straight, 950psi!! Too much bottle pressure can get you in trouble and run it lean, too little bottle pressure sucks more air then N2O.
 
You guys are only running 950psi? I run 1050-1100psi. Always have for about 7 years now and it works great. Hell if you don't have a bottle warmer and your sure your bottle is new and pressure tested well, just use a propane tourch. YAH i know they say its dangerous but there are tons of us that do it, and it works just fine. Just turn the tourch on and movie it around the bottle and heat her up to the desired temp. NOT an Oxi acediline torch a propane small tourch lol just makin sure no ones confused lol

I don't think I would do ANY of that.

Sounds dangerous in more than one way.

Propane Torch

Even though heating bottles with a propane torch is a popular method, it's dangerous and can get people hurt.

Aluminum starts to melt around 800 degrees and applying that much heat for too long in any one spot can weaken the bottle causing it to rupture. Think!!! We're talking about an aluminum (which melts easily) nitrous bottle filled with an oxidizer at high pressures and applying a torch (filled with fuel) to it - not a wise idea. Don't even consider using a torch on a carbon fiber bottle.

There are more reasons, besides the obvious safety issues, to not use a torch to heat your bottles. Many tracks have outlawed this practice and some sanctioning bodies such as IHRA, AMA/Pro-Star have as outlawed it as well. Those telltale scorch marks on a bottle may also prevent you from getting the bottle refilled at many locations.

Like i said it isnt the safest and your right i wouldnt use it on a carbon fiber bottle. And when i explained how to heat it i said MOVE it around because your right heating in one spot to long could possibly cause a rupture. I dont think its a dangerous as everyone makes it out to be either. BUT your right it is a little dangerous. I know personally over 30 guys that use this method, just be smart about it and you'll be fine. We have cares in our group runnin 8 second passes. the slowest is a 11 second mustang. We all used propane torches. But a bottle heater is alot safer and i'd just go with that if you had the money.
And if you know anything about nitrous running 1050psi is better than running 950psi. But do what you want.

I'm not sure if this statement is all together true. If your a/f ratio is correct for 1050 psi then i agree. If you are only running enough fuel for 950psi and you bump to 1050 psi then a leaning out issue could cause damage. Very true, i correct my statement. For my set-up 1050 psi works better than 950psi.
 
Thanks, yah i have a few pics of my Stang. Don't have any video but in a few weeks i'm running a 2002 TA when i get home. I'll video tape it for everyone here. Sorry i'm in all the pictures. LOL i'm in the Marines not the Army and we don't get paid enough. I'm in West Africa on special duty assignment guarding the American Embassy. Not much fun here and not to safe i might add. We do decent with special duty assignment pay,hazardous duty, and imminent danger pay. Plus they pay for my groceries lol but i've been in over 5 years.
