OORAH. USNR, retired here. I still go to Parris Island at least a couple times a week. Hide at MCAS the rest of the time.

I got a bottle heater, and found that it is useful all year round. The bottle needs to be at 95 deg, I think. You won't need it at 2pm on Sat in Florida, but at 9 pm you will.

If you look around on, its easy to get temp-pressure chart for nitrous on line.

I don't fuss at people that heat with a torch, but I will not do it. I have spent a career in construction, and some serious time in fuel gasses and compressed gasses in general, in a shipyard. I have first hand experience with a major acetylene f(*K up. NO way am I going to put a torch to an aluminum nitrous bottle. It works, and 9 out of 10 folks will not have a problem, but if you are number 10, start running now.

Aluminum starts to melt around 800 degrees and applying that much heat for too long in any one spot can weaken the bottle causing it to rupture.

Yup,and the oxidation layer around aluminum is about double that.
