Is insurance really cheaper?

Well look at this comparison

Me: 1973 Coupe with mods, not fully restored, daily driver, no tickets or claims = $70 a month general liability

Friend: 1989 Prelude si, stock, no tickets or claims = $124 a month general liability

I dont know why my insurance is cheaper even thoug we have the same amount of coverage.
However unless you have a stang that is fully restored ar atleast has all the major stuff done be willing to invest time and money where as a newer car wouldnt require that.

It's all about liability and the drivers age and record, and the replacement cost as well as regional problems, like where I live, 45% of the drivers don't have insurance so it jacks up ours a bit. (They don't have social security numbers or green cards either.) In a 5 mph accident, I could slap on a new $100 front bumper on the stang, but the same hit on my 2004 Century might go as high as $1000.

rates depend on where you live, how old you are, what your driving record is, what car you drive, and your coverage. it also depends on your insurance company. a magazine editor once had a late 60's chevy wagon that he paid an outragious amount(even for LA) in car insurance. turns out his 9 passenger wagon was classified as a sports car because(this will kill you) the insurance company rules stated that ANY car with a V8 and manual transmission is a sports car. the wagon had the V8 and three on the tree.

Alright thanks for the input. I was talking to this guy who lives by me and is near my brothers age(18) and he said he pays about the same as my bro pays for his accord.

well, thats probably due to the fact that you are married, over twenty five and have a pretty clean record. most of the people that are complaining about high insurance are under twenty five and unmarried. :notnice: :bang:
