Rev-Limiter is set at around 7k on these cars. So no. You probably put the distributor back in wrong or your timing is off. Does it feel like you hit a complete wall and all you hear is basically air being sucked in?

If you are still using OEM springs

There is a possibility the cam is now working the springs harder and they just
don't have enough beens to do the job correctly

The guy I bought the heads from said he replaced the springs when he had the heads worked and he was running an E cam

Two questions.

First is it an AODE car? If so, the rev limiter is NOT set at 7K as one person suggests. It's not even 6K. Thus why most of us chip around the rev limiter in our tunes.

2nd, are you basing this on a stock tach? As they have been known to be off... a LOT on some cars.

Found a post Wes made:

"Autos optioned with 2.73 gears (W4H0), the rev limit is 5700
Autos optioned with 3.27 gears (U4P0), the rev limit is 5800"

Your tach could easily be off this much. How you ever made it to 6,000 before this swap. I have no idea, unless your tach was off, or you had a chip installed.

Anyway, the others in this thread could be 100% correct and it's a spring issue. I just wanted to correct a few things in the thread. Get more information for everyone. So hopefully we can get you a quicker and more accurate answer.

Mine is the W4HO option it may have been the 5700 I just knew it was closer to 6k and now at the 52-53 range I am going to pull my dist but timing looks to be acurate from the timing light.

Any one have ideas on why my idle didn't rise and lower when I adjusted my timing advance or retard?
