Is it the driveshaft or what else?

At 70 mph and above. My shifter starts shaking and I step on the clutch (my rpms go down says the tack) and can't hear my engine revs (flowmasters) go down because of what sounds like another engine. I believe it is a vabration of some sort coming from what feels like right under my shifter and a little forward towards the engine. Don't feel anything from the back. This whining nose comes and goes and somtimes is always there at 70+. During acceleration the car feels stable. Let go of the gas pedle at 70+ or keep it stabe and the shifter starts to shake then step on the clutch and egnnnnnnnnnnnn somtimes more egnnnnnnnnnnnnn and then less egnnnnnnnns and then silence for a second or two and then agian egnnnnnnnnn it comes. I hear this noise when the clutch is down and (the shifter is always shaking clutch up or down). During normal 70+ driving there is shaking going on at the shifter. The engine and my flowmasters I think are blocking the enggg sound. I keep saying what the hell is that. Is my car posessed? If I keep trying to fiqure this out I'm going to wind up getting a speeding ticket. I got new u joints put in.(less shaking at the shifter the car dosen't feel like it going to shake apart anymore) but that egnnnnnn sound is still there and there is still shaking at the shifter. Checked my trany mount. I have this feeling if I get my driveshaft checked nothing is going to happen. Before I send it out to get checked is there anything else I should consider or is it the driveshaft. Thank you for any help that could save me time and money. T

Well, if your driveshaft is out of balance that will defanently give you the shaking symptoms. I don't know about the sound but I could believe it. Anyway, try unbolting the driveshaft from the diff and rotating it a quarter turn or a half turn and put the bolts back in. If it is the driveshaft sometimes doing this will change the nature of the vibration so you can know it is the DS.

Have you checked out the bottom of the car making sure that everything is where it is supposed to be?

Motor Mounts
Tranny Mounts
Out of balance tires
Bad Shocks
Mising bushings
Loose shifter

All of these things (and more) can lead to a vibration problem.
