For about a year now my car has been burning excessive amounts of oil. I went through 1 quart in 1000miles now this is about 70% highway but this seems like alot to me. before it went through about 1 quart in 1200-1300 miles but that was with hardly any highway. I have checked the pcv valve, compression check 150-153 in each, no leaks, no blue smoke. Car runs great but drinks oil. Ive heard of sending oil from engine to lab to test for metal shavings and etc.. Ive been using mobil 1 10w30 synthetic. What else could be the problem. I know this is long but i cant figure out the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks A.J

Iwould have to say you are getting blow by on the rings at just the right amount to not smoke. I'm not sure on the compression numbers.

Try running a syn blend and not full syn on your next oil change. If you worried about metal shavings you can get magnetic drain plugs and see whats in there. Or you can cut the filter open and look inside.

I would look into changing the valve seals, its fairly cheap and not too hard to do. good luck
