Is more timing necessarily better for my combo?

Hey guys, got a question. Recently done a afr 165 swap with an fti custom cam and reused my rpm intake. Put a new balancer on it, fired it up, and have been playing with the timing ever since. I've bumped it up to 22* advanced w/ spout out, and it has no spark knock. Is this too much, just right, or would try for a little more? Just kinda curious if timing is something you want as much of as you can get. Thanks a lot.

I would suspect that your balancer has moved a little. 22 degrees initial is a lot of timing. Maybe get the timing mark tape and follow the instructions and apply it to your balancer to see if you really are at 22 degrees of intial timing.

Hmm if it really is at 22* is it helping or hurting?

I would say hurting personally. I really doubt it is 22 degrees. I would be looking at my balancer if I was getting that much timing into my motor.

Are you putting the spout back in or are you locking the timing at 22 degrees by leaving the spout out. ?

Taking spout out, setting timing, lock the dizzy down, check it to be sure it hasn't moved, and then popping the spout back in. Something can't be right I don't think, I kinda wonder if she may have a problem or something.
