hey guys it just occured to me that my car may not have a posi unit.. which will suck ass if it doesnt.. I know for a fact though, my car was special ordered with the 3.08 gears in it. Just wondering could it be possible that i have one.. if i do i can put my gears in

it is, didnt ford call thiers trac lock or something???

traction lok is right.. just i heard from some random person that LX's didnt.. couldnt decide but thanks

Every 5.0L Mustang from 1986 on gets the "posi" rear end. Simpilest way to tell... Do a smokey burnout. If you see two tire tracks, than yours is working.

Over the course of time, the clutches wear (naturally) and your car can revert back to an Open differential. Many stores sell the rebuild kit for the Traction-Loc for around $50.00

It was actually before 86. 83 or 84 I believe.

Just to clear things up in my head, what are the rear ends that v6's get?

v6's get the 7.5", as did all mustangs pre-86

my 84 had trak-lok as well, so it must have been 83 or 84 like maverick suggested

All V8 Mustangs from the early 80's have had the t-lok.

1984 (or whatever year) all the way to 2006.

Only the base model Mustangs (4-banger or V6) got the 7.5" open rear diff

LXs have Traction-Lok.

Wheel hop can be caused by bad quad shocks, but your trac loc is bad if only one wheel is spinning.
