is my GT really a GT

my gt hatch is a little odd. it is missing the power windows and power door locks, and power mirrors. in fact almost all of the comforts that one would expect from a GT are missing. (i do have the gt seats) my buddies and i had a theory that it's really a lx and somebody put a gt body kit on it. but when i looked up the VIN last night it says it is a GT.

any body have any ideas or have a car with the same type of deal

My GT has manual windows and manual locks, but power mirrors. Yeah, I know it's a factory GT. All depends on how it was ordered.

i guess it could be a good thing. it makes the car lighter right

Not good or bad, just different. But yeah, I guess without lock and window actuators, it would be a bit lighter... by at least 3 or 4 pounds.

The lock actuators and window lift bushings usually break often so your saving money and labor by not having them. Plus it makes your GT unique.

None of that means it's an LX, since you can find an LX with every option a GT would come with except for the ground effects...even the interior could be had in an LX. I'd say it's just a low option order.

I would just say be thankful you actually do have a GT and not an LX converted to a GT, just for the sake of value.

Depending on the year, there are some Gt only features like the warning light cluster on the 87-89s

I don't follow this statement. How do GT's have more intrinsic value than LX's? I personally think a GT is less valuable than a clean LX. That's my own opinion, though. There has been a noticeable movement in the Mustang community towards the lines of the LX. The GT, if not done right, just looks so... ice ice baby.

What I was trying to imply is that an original GT is more valuable than an LX converted to a GT, not that a GT is more valuable than an LX. If I were shopping for a mustang I would not want someone else's hack job, I would take the original car.

You don't know if you are getting a very good job, or someone's hack job

Just little bizzarre ordering issues....whoever ordered my GT from the factory got EVERY OPTION KNOWN TO MAN (including the rare rear defroster) but did NOT get factory air conditioning!! WTF?!? Who the hell orders power EVERYTHING and skips on the factory aircon?!

It was not uncommon for the dealers to order the cars w/o air to be able to advertise a lower price. If the customer wanted air the dealer could add it later and still make a little coin.
