is my hood gonna fly off?!

We have to as a matter of practise, to comply to our local racing regulations.
Guess I didnt think about that.. even thought I dont race mine at all.

Id hate to put those on and "ruin" a hood, but I would feel WAY worse if the hood flew off. Even if it never does, I would be worrying everytime I see it vibrating on the hwy.

Im going with Steeda's, b/c I can pick it up local and save shipping, and even thought it bolts on the latches, they state that ALL THEIR HOODS REQUIRE AFTERMARKET HOOD PINS!

Anyway, a repeat ?? on what brand those are on the yellow stang?

That yellow one looks to have the locking pins. The ones that u have to use the key to open the hood. I think i remember from researching a long time ago that those dont actually help with keeping the hood down...they just lock it. But im sure they are better than nothing...but how much, im not sure.

Does anyone have any pins that do not rust?

If the hood is vibrating at any speed, then the hood will come up. It's progressively tugging at the mounts. Install the rubbers so it doesn't vibrate at all.

First and foremost the hood needs to be secure and motionless, it will greatly reduce the risk of cracking and flying up.

Also, I would definately pay the extra cost for a higher quality hood over using hood pins.

Yeah, those locking pins suck. I had some on my integra and one side broke and when that side flew up, the other side broke and the hood flew up and slammed the windshield. I don't recommed those at all.

I now have dezus fastners on mine, Havent had any problem at all, plus they are relatively small so you dont notice them as much.

What are those?

Anyways I have the MR Gasket flush locking style in my room right now, I need to get my hood repainted thanks to a big rock chip so i think im gonna get them installed then, ill miss the clean look tho :(

PPL seem to say these ones fail sometimes, but IMO its gonna be safer then just my stock latch correct? I mean these will just be a added attachment ontop of my stock latch which im still using...???

Well, I still think the hood should latch right, then the pins are ADDED protection.

Can you snap a photo of those and post them?

Dezus fastners are those little Quarter turn nickel sized fastners that mount flush with the panel and secure to backing plates either welded or riveted to the engine compartment. I have a pin on hood so I used ten, 4 down each side and two accross the front. Been down the track up to 131 MPH with no problems so far
